Maybe *this* rose doesn't have a thorn....

Why can't meeting new people be like surfing blogs? I think that would be so much easier! Above their heads is a little button that says "Next Person" you can press when you realize they aren't for you. When I was in high school, I used to take people not wanting to hang around me personally. Obviously, that is a legitimate concern, as sometimes it is personal. But other times, I'm learning as I grow up, you just don't have the same interests, and that's it. In high school, I'd think 'What did I say wrong? How could I have done this better? Why don't they want to hang out with me?' When in reality, they probably weren't into Backstreet Boys and Colorguard and hence, we didn't have much to talk about.

Blogs: There are SO many different topics out there that people are devoted to. But when I come across, say, a gardening blog, I'm not going to follow it. The woman in the cute ladybug hat and the big green thumb might be the sweetest person I'd ever meet, but I'll never know because the following is the only thing pertaining to gardening that could catch my attention:

So if someone you meet isn't open to being buds, weed them right outta your life (Did you like those gardening funnies there? Ba dum tish!) and don't think twice. As we get older, we can recognize what we do and don't like more quickly and then don't have to waste time on sub par interests, and that, is a wonderful thing.

On another note, if you like Americana artists, here is my review of Will Pearsall's album, Healing Bone:

“Silent Storm,” the first track on Will Pearsall’s Healing Bone, starts off with a catchy hook that gets me really interested, until his vocals come in and put me off altogether. I keep listening, though, and I realize his slightly off-key vocals that fit a bit awkwardly with the music have a certain endearing quality that grows on me.

The Florida native who has been playing with a friend for more than the past decade and for a few years with another group, Jethro’s Giant Brain, has gone solo on this project and regales us with his emotional lyrics and guitar alone.

When you wrote about how you wondered what you could have done better? Why don't they like me? when you were in high school, that is so true. I remember doing that all the time, and I did take it personally as well.

Also... it is good to not just make friends for the sake of friends. Better off having cool people to hang out with who you have mutual interests with than to be bored to death in the company of some schmucks.

My Interview with James Michael of Sixx: A.M.

On December 23, 2011, I had the pleasure of having a chat with James Michael, lead singer of hard rock outfit, Sixx: A.M. , which also includes Nikki Sixx and DJ Ashba. The bandwas formed in 2007 as a side project for the members. It evolved into something much bigger than was originally planned, the platform to release The Heroin Diaries, an album based on the book documenting Sixx’s previous heroin addiction and recovery. Today, Sixx: A.M. has a large following of fans who are inspired by their telling and truthful lyrics and hard-hitting melodies. James Michael has an extensive and impressive background in the music industry. Not only is he the lead vocalist of Sixx: A.M., he’s also a songwriter, engineer and producer and has worked with the likes of Mötley Crüe, Saliva, Scorpions, and Papa Roach just to name a few. After a little talk about our mutual envy of people who get all of their Christmas shopping done in August, we get started with the interesting ...

Cappuccino or Bust?

I really think that drinking coffee is as much a social activity as it is drinking it for energy. When I got my first office job, I felt pretty sophisticated. I was no longer waitressing or cashiering. I was a real working woman! Since then, I've noticed that my coffee intake has significantly gone up. I don't want to be the only one at the office not sipping my cup of joe while having our morning chat! Though I only really drink iced coffee, I have been throwing a few warmish coffees in every now and then. And I'm not even actually sure caffeine does anything for me - I'm acquring a taste for coffee, something I'd of been ashamed of not too long ago. Coffee breath rivaled onion breath in my book. My mom pointed something out - adding coffee to my daily intake is something that I don't need. I take my iced coffee light and sweet, so there is a lot of extra calories I do not need! (Especially on the days that I *gasp* have two cups) I'd better start h...
The smell of rain is in the air, and I'm pretty sure I just heard the slight rumblings of thunder. My 4.5 month pup Mango has never experienced a full-fledged thunderstorm with us yet, so I hope that she's not too frightened if that happens. It's great weather to sit near the deck door listening to the rain, write my music review and apply for jobs. Though I am feeling sort of productive today. I cleaned up the kitchen and plan on making salad and jambalaya (one of my favorites!) in a little while. (You can see how worried Pickles and Mango are about the storm) Let's talk a little about personal hygiene shall we? I was at the gym the other day at the pool. Along the sides of the pool there are lounge chairs in which people lie around on. I thought it was kind of funny at first, as it's an indoor pool, but I guess it could be kind of relaxing. Anyway, there was a guy on a lounge chair shaving his face with a Bic razor. What? I could've sworn that wasn't...
